How to repair damaged / corrupt .MOV (QuickTime) video files

.MOV is a very popular file format that is used by the QuickTime Media Player. MOV files are used in digital cameras where the pictures are stored on the memory card. A QuickTime movie or a .mov file may get corrupt due to several reasons like memory card related errors, corruption caused while editing videos, bad sectors, any kind of interruption that occurs while recording the video, MBR corruption etc. There's a lot of software available if you need to repair a broken .mov file but sometimes is too expensive or simply it doesn't work and here's where PotPlayer comes to rescue.PotPlayer is an extremely light-weight multimedia player for Windows. Here's a solution that works whenever we have to do with corrupt QuickTime video files:
  1. Download and install PotPlayer or try the portable version.
  2. Load the corrupt file into PotPlayer , right click -> Video, -> Capture, -> Video Capture. 
  3. Record and save your video.

  1. This blog is informative enough. Will it fix damaged header MOV file? I search one application “Remo repair MOV tool and it fills in according to satisfaction.

  2. Thank you for Informative blog! I've repaired my wedding footage, cause camera SD card corrupt from virus just that one video. I used Stellar Video Repair software that fix my corrupt videos files. Cheers!
